Containerized Ozone Generator Piszolla

Piszolla (Alba de Tormes, Salamanca, Spain): 3 kg/h LOX-Fed Containerized Ozone System for Geosmin Control and Off-Flavour (Taste & Odour) Removal

Longking EnTech Europe (formerly Newland EnTech Europe) supplied a containerized ozone generator plant for Piszolla Group’s facility in Alba de Tormes (Salamanca, Spain). The project focused on a well-known operational challenge in river-water use: geosmin, a compound associated with off-flavours and undesirable taste & odour impacts.

This reference is a strong example of a Spanish industrial project where a complete ozone container solution—not only a generator—was engineered, integrated and delivered as a plug & play package with advanced automation and remote support.

From pilot test to industrial plant (2019–2022)

In late 2019, a pilot test was launched at the Alba de Tormes site to confirm whether ozonation was the most suitable process to address geosmin in the river water and to define the target capacity and control philosophy for an industrial installation.

Based on pilot data and the existing facility constraints, Longking EnTech Europe was commissioned in June 2020 to design and build the industrial plant. The system was delivered in November 2021, including operator training. By June 2022, the plant had operated for more than six months and progressed against the objectives defined by the customer.

Client objectives (site-specific)

  1. Address geosmin in incoming river water.

  2. Ensure comprehensive control of ozone dosing and stable operation.

  3. Improve water quality for additional internal uses at the plant.

  4. Minimize civil works through a compact, integrated solution.

Technical solution — 20-foot containerized ozone system (3 kg/h, LOX)

To meet these objectives, the team engineered a 3 kg/h ozone plant fed from liquid oxygen (LOX) with a dosing regulation and control strategy aligned with pilot findings and site requirements.

Containerized integration (plug & play)

The complete system was integrated into a 20-foot container, including thermal insulation and air conditioning, supporting:

  • reduced on-site civil works,

  • faster deployment and commissioning,

  • controlled environment for instrumentation and automation,

  • simplified operation and maintenance.

Contacting and diffusion design

Longking EnTech Europe developed the contact chamber and diffusion system to support reliable mass transfer and stable process performance, aligned with the target treatment objective (geosmin/off-flavour control) and operational constraints.

Automation and remote support (SENTINEL)

At the customer’s request, the SENTINEL remote access system was installed to enable remote support and diagnostics (subject to site access and cybersecurity policies).

Reported operational results (customer feedback)

After several months of operation, Piszolla reported positive results, while also noting the value of completing annual cycles to confirm performance under different seasonal conditions. Customer feedback highlighted improvements in organoleptic quality and broader operational benefits linked to the treated starting water used within the facility.

From reference to product platform — containerized ozone solutions and robust NLO systems

This Spanish reference demonstrates how Longking EnTech Europe delivers containerized ozone solutions as engineered systems—integrating ozone generation, dosing control, contacting design and automation into a plug & play package.

It also highlights why buyers select a robust ozone generator platform for industrial duty: stable output, automation readiness, and long-term operability are as important as nameplate capacity.
