Municipal Ozone & UV Water Treatment Solutions
Drinking Water Treatment – Ozone, UV & Advanced Oxidation
Municipal drinking water treatment increasingly requires robust multi-barrier processes capable of addressing microbiological safety, taste and odour, natural organic matter and emerging contaminants while maintaining reliable and efficient plant operation.
Longking EnTech Europe provides ozone, UV disinfection and Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) solutions that can be integrated into new or existing drinking water treatment plants according to the raw water quality, treatment objectives and regulatory requirements of each project
Key Process Applications
Pre-Ozonation: Can support algae control, oxidation of iron and manganese and improved coagulation/flocculation, depending on raw water characteristics. Appropriate process design can also contribute to reducing the formation potential of chlorinated disinfection by-products downstream.
Taste & Odour Control: Ozone is highly effective for the oxidation of compounds responsible for taste and odour problems, including applications involving geosmin and 2-MIB, with the required dose and contact conditions determined by water quality and treatment objectives.
Micropollutant Oxidation: Ozone and ozone-based AOP can be applied to the treatment of selected pharmaceuticals, pesticides and other organic micropollutants. Removal performance depends on the target compound, ozone demand, water matrix and process conditions.
Ozone + GAC/BAC: Ozonation upstream of granular activated carbon (GAC) or biologically activated carbon (BAC) can increase the biodegradability of part of the dissolved organic matter and support advanced purification and biological stability.
Final UV Disinfection: UV can provide a chemical-free final disinfection barrier for the inactivation of microorganisms, with system sizing based on the required UV dose, target organisms, UV transmittance and hydraulic conditions.
Engineering & Process Control
Longking systems can incorporate:
LOX, PSA or dry-air ozone generation, selected according to project capacity and operating requirements.
Ozone injection, diffusion and contact systems designed for efficient gas–liquid transfer.
Dissolved ozone, gas-phase ozone and process instrumentation for monitoring and control.
Automatic production control based on flow, dose setpoints and available process signals.
CFD-supported hydraulic and diffusion studies, when required by the project.
PLC/SCADA integration, FAT/SAT and commissioning support.
Each drinking water application is evaluated individually to define the appropriate ozone dose, contact conditions, UV requirements, oxidation strategy and process integration, avoiding generic treatment assumptions where water quality can significantly affect performance.
Wastewater Treatment – Ozone for Advanced Treatment & Water Reuse
Ozone can provide an effective advanced treatment step for municipal wastewater, particularly for effluent polishing, micropollutant oxidation, colour and odour control and water reuse applications.
At Longking EnTech Europe, ozone systems are designed according to the effluent characteristics, target compounds, ozone demand, required treatment performance and downstream process configuration.
Key Applications of Ozone in Wastewater
Micropollutant Oxidation: Ozone can oxidize selected pharmaceuticals, endocrine-disrupting compounds and other organic micropollutants, with removal performance depending on the compound and wastewater matrix.
Effluent Polishing: Ozonation can support the oxidation of recalcitrant organic compounds, colour and odour, improving final effluent quality where required.
Improved Biodegradability: Ozone can transform part of the organic matter into more biodegradable compounds, supporting subsequent biological or BAC treatment in suitable applications.
Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP): Ozone can be combined with H₂O₂, UV or other process configurations when enhanced oxidation is required for difficult contaminants.
Water Reuse: Ozonation can form part of a multi-barrier treatment process for water reuse, together with filtration, activated carbon, UV disinfection or other treatment stages depending on the required water quality.
Typical Applications
Tertiary treatment and effluent polishing
Micropollutant and pharmaceutical removal
Colour and odour reduction
Oxidation of selected refractory organic compounds
Improvement of biodegradability
Water reuse and advanced treatment schemes
The final ozone dose, contact conditions and process configuration must be defined from the actual wastewater quality and treatment objectives, as ozone demand and oxidation performance can vary significantly between applications.
UV Disinfection for Municipal Wastewater & Water Reuse
Ultraviolet disinfection provides an effective chemical-free barrier for microorganism inactivation in municipal wastewater and water reuse applications, without adding a chemical disinfectant to the treated water.
Longking EnTech Europe provides open-channel UV systems engineered according to the specific flow, UV transmittance (UVT), suspended solids, target UV dose, hydraulic conditions and redundancy requirements of each project.
Our NLQ-H and NLQ-HPV systems cover horizontal and vertical open-channel configurations, allowing the UV solution to be adapted to different plant capacities, channel geometries and operational requirements.
Key Features of Longking Open-Channel UV Systems
High-efficiency amalgam UV lamps: Low-pressure UV technology with different power configurations according to the selected NLQ system.
Automatic Cleaning: Pneumatic mechanical cleaning helps maintain quartz sleeve performance and reduce fouling during operation.
Dose Pacing: Lamp output can be automatically adjusted according to flow, UVT or the selected control strategy, optimizing energy consumption while maintaining the required operating conditions.
UV Intensity Monitoring: UV sensors provide continuous operating information for system monitoring, alarms and control.
Water Level Control: Level measurement and hydraulic control help maintain the correct lamp immersion and stable UV operating conditions.
Modular Configuration: Systems can be configured with multiple modules, banks and channels according to plant capacity and redundancy requirements.
PLC/SCADA Integration: Control systems can communicate with the plant automation architecture through standard industrial communication protocols.
Typical Applications
Final wastewater disinfection in municipal WWTPs, tertiary treatment and water reuse, retrofit of existing UV or chlorination systems, and other municipal applications requiring a controlled UV disinfection barrier.
Design, Validation & Compliance
UV system performance must be evaluated according to the project-specific design conditions and required disinfection objective. Relevant parameters include UVT, suspended solids, design flow, microorganism target, required UV dose and hydraulic configuration.
