Longking supplies Ozone Generators System for El Ahogado WasteWater Treatment Plant in Jalisco, Mexico

El Ahogado WWTP (Jalisco, Mexico): 160 kg/h LOX-Fed Ozonation System with NLO-2G Ozone Generators for High-Flow Wastewater Disinfection

Longking EnTech Europe (formerly Newland EnTech Europe) has been awarded the supply of an ozonation plant for El Ahogado Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, through Mitsui & Co. Infrastructure Solutions.

This project supports the sanitation of the El Ahogado river basin by modernizing the disinfection stage and expanding the WWTP capacity to address wastewater generated across the metropolitan area of Guadalajara.

At a glance

  • Contract channel: Mitsui & Co. Infrastructure Solutions

  • Purpose: modernization of disinfection + plant expansion for basin sanitation

  • Total treated flow (filtration + ozonation): 3,250 L/s

    • 2.250 L/s existing plant flow

    • +1.000 L/s expansion

  • Population benefit: >5,2 million inhabitants

  • Ozone production: 160 kg/h

  • Feed gas: Liquid oxygen (LOX)

  • Generator platform: NLO-2G ozone generators

  • Focus: automation and optimized energy/oxygen consumption

Project scope and objective

The objective of the project is the sanitation of the El Ahogado river basin through:

  1. modernization of the disinfection system, and

  2. expansion of the WWTP by 1.000 L/s.

The overall treatment scope includes filtration and ozone disinfection of a total flow rate of 3.250 L/s, combining the current treated flow (2.250 L/s) with the expansion (1.000 L/s). The expansion will benefit more than 5,2 million inhabitants.

Utility-scale ozonation: 160 kg/h from LOX

The ozone generation plant is designed for a total capacity of 160 kg/h, operating with liquid oxygen (LOX) feed gas and using ozone generators from the NLO-2G range.

In high-flow municipal wastewater applications, ozonation performance is not just a “kg/h number”. Delivering stable results at scale depends on system-level engineering: safe oxygen handling, reliable ozone production, robust control, and operating efficiency across variable flows.

Why NLO-2G for municipal wastewater disinfection

The NLO-2G platform is selected for demanding projects where utilities require:

  • stable and controllable ozone production,

  • reliable continuous-duty operation,

  • and a design approach focused on low specific energy consumption (without relying on unprovable “best on the market” claims).

This is the kind of technology positioning that EPCs and utilities trust: performance + operability, not marketing superlatives.

Automation and operating efficiency

The facility will be equipped with advanced automation and control systems to help optimize:

  • energy consumption, and

  • oxygen consumption,
while ensuring safe and repeatable operation.

In large installations, automation is not “nice to have”—it is what keeps the process inside the intended operating window and reduces lifecycle cost (OPEX) through disciplined control.

A key reference for Mexico

With this project, Longking EnTech Europe strengthens its presence in Mexico as a supplier of ozonation solutions for disinfection and oxidation in municipal water infrastructure.

El Ahogado WWTP is a high-visibility, high-flow application where engineering quality, safety design, and operational stability make the difference—making this project an important reference for the Mexican market.
